FENNVILLE, Mich (WZZM) - The American Red Cross and the Wes Leonard Heart Team are teaming up for a blood drive in Wes' honor. The Red Cross will donate AED's to the Heart Team before the blood drive starts.
The blood drive runs from noon until 8:00 p.m. at the Fennville Community Center. In addition to the blood drive there is a bone marrow registry, CPR demonstrations and information on how to use an AED.
Wes Leonard was a Junior on the Fennville basketball team when he collapsed and died on the court after hitting a game winning shot on March 3rd, 2010. The win gave Fennville a 20-0 regular season record. The team went on to win a District title before losing to eventual state champion Schoolcraft without Leonard.
