GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-The community is reaching out to help a little girl whose father was murdered in a road rage incident.
Lance Byers was shot and killed after a minor crash in Grand Rapids in February. The other driver, 21-year-old Jountay Davis, got into an argument with Byers. But police say it was his sister, Jeanette Davis, who shot Byers.
Saturday evening, Byers' friends held a dinner and silent auction in his honor. The proceeds will go toward his young daughter's education.
"We're trying to make sure we can provide for her future as her father would have if he were here," said organizer Antoinette Harrington.
Jeanette Davis will stand trial for the murder. Her brother will be tried as an accessory to the crime.
