Grand Rapids Griffins hosting "Lids at the Library"

PLAINFIELD TWP. Mich. (WZZM) -The Grand Rapids Griffins are teaming up with Safe Kids Greater Grand Rapids to help local children be safer while bicycling this summer.

They are passing out 100 new bicycle helmets as part of their "Lids at the Library" event.

The event takes place at the Plainfield Township Branch of the Kent District Library Tuesday June 19th starting at 2:00 p.m. Volunteers from Safe Kids and the Griffins will be on hand to properly fit the free helmets.

The first 100 children ages one to 12 with a parent or guardian will receive a helmet.  Griff, the Griffins mascot, will be on hand to entertain patrons.
