ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) -- Police in St. Joseph say an unidentified man has drowned at a beach in the Lake Michigan shoreline community.
Police say they got a call at noon Tuesday about a man who jumped from a pier at Silver Beach, then yelled for help.
Sgt. Steve Neubecker says the Berrien County dive team located the man in about seven feet of water. Neubecker says the man was pronounced dead at Lakeland Hospital.
Police say they're trying to learn the man's identity. He's described as black and 30 to 40 years old. He was wearing green shorts.
