GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- The national tour of the Screwtape Letters is making a stop in Grand Rapids.

The Screwtape Letters is play based on the classic novel by author C.S. Lewis.

The play follows Satan's top psychiatrist, played by award winning actor Max McLean, as they train an apprentice named Wormwood.

The national tour of the Screwtape Letters kicked off after a nine-month run in New York. McLean explains why the production came to Grand Rapids.

"One of the citizens of your great city saw the show in New York and contacted our production office and said, "What would it take to bring the show to Grand Rapids? So, that's how it got started."

He goes on to say, "The kind of community pride thats here, the real sense of wanting to make this a great city, it makes us people who create art say that's a place we should go."

There are two performances Saturday at DeVos Performance Hall at 4 p.m. and at 8 p.m.

Tickets range from $29- $59.
