GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The ex-manager of a Plainfield Township restaurant was charged with embezzlement in his arraignment Wednesday.

Mark Sherman was charged with embezzling between $1,000 $20,000 from the Real Food Cafe on Northland Drive. Sherman was arrested earlier this month for an outstanding warrant connected to a 2008 embezzlement conviction at the 28th Street Hooters, where he worked.

Real Food Cafe owners contacted the Kent County Sheriff's Department on June 6, accusing Sherman of taking more than $4,000 from the business. The Kent County Prosecutor's Office reviewed the complaint and issued a felony warrant.

Sherman turned himself in to the Kent County Sheriff's Department on June 25, and posted a $5,000 bond that same day. Sherman is scheduled back in court on July 9.
