STANTON, Mich. (WZZM) - A Schoolcraft man has been charged with making plans to have a Kalamazoo woman killed, while he was incarcerated in the Montcalm County Jail.

Ronald Earl Cooper, 36, has been arraigned on charges of Solicitation of Murder and could face life in prison if convicted.  He is being held on a $1 million bond.

The Montcalm County Sheriff says that while Cooper was in his jail cell, he made arrangements to have a 24-year-old Kalamazoo woman, who he had a prior relationship with, killed.  Cooper was in the Montcalm County Jail as a lodger from Kalamazoo County.

Deputies say that the woman was never in danger.
