Vigil held in Carnel Chamberlain's memory

UPDATE AT 9:20 P.M. (WZZM) -- Hundreds of people have turned out at the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Operations Center in Mount Pleasant for a candlelight vigil in memory of Carnel Chamberlain, just hours after investigators found the four-year-old boy's body.

UPDATE AT 8:15 P.M. (WZZM) -- Tribal police have reportedly made an arrest in the case of a boy found dead on a Native American reservation near Mount Pleasant.

The Native News Network is reporting Anthony Bennett, 20, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Thursday at his sister's home.

Bennett was the boyfriend of Jaimee Chamberlain, who's four-year-old son Carnel disappeared one week ago.

UPDATE AT 7:12 P.M. (AP/WZZM) -- A family spokesman says the body of a 4-year-old boy missing in mid-Michigan has been found, a week after his disappearance.

Kevin Chamberlain says Carnel Chamberlain's body was found Thursday.

The Morning Sun is reporting the FBI and Michigan State Police crime scene technicians were at the home shared by Carnel's mother and her boyfriend.  WZZM 13's Phil Dawson reports tribal police have blocked off the road around the home shared by Carnel's mother and her now-former boyfriend.

A candlelight vigil for Carnel previously scheduled for 9 p.m. Thursday night at the Saginaw Chippewa tribal operations center is expected to go on.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (WZZM) -- Investigators have reportedly found the body of a four-year-old boy who has been missing for one week.

The Mount Pleasant Morning Sun is reporting the body of Carnel Chamberlain was found Thursday under the porch of the home shared by his mother and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Anthony Bennett.

Carnel was last seen on June 21, when he was being cared for at his home by Bennett.  The boy's mother was working her job at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant.

A spokesman for the Saginaw Chippewa tribe said Bennett was a "person of interest" in the criminal investigation into Carnel's disappearance.  There is no word whether he or anyone else has been arrested.
