SPENCER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A woman is being treated for leg injuries after her car collided with the back of a dump truck in northeastern Kent County.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Larsen Ave. and Steffensen St. NE in Spencer Township, just west of Gowen.

Kent County deputies say the dump truck was backing up while transporting dirt from one farm to another when the 89-year-old woman's Chevy Impala ran into the back of it.

The woman suffered compound fractures to her ankles.  Deputies say she was taken to the hospital in serious condition because of her age.
