Giant slip-and-slide at Salvation Army's Kroc Center.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- WZZM 13 is teaming up with the Salvation Army Kroc Center to help families cool off while making warm memories this summer.
Children took rides down a giant outdoor slip and slide at the Kroc Center in Grand Rapids and transformed sidewalks into art. The first 100 visitors were also treated to free frozen yogurt and cupcakes. The event wrapped up with a free movie showing in the amphitheater.
Organizers say events like this are crucial for the community.
"It's about fun, it's about children and growing up with good memories and positive things to do as a family. And that forms us and helps us to become good, strong adults in this community," said Major Marc Johnson.
The Salvation Army Kroc Center will host three more free family movie nights this summer. The next showing is "Cars 2" on July 20.
