HAMLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Ludington Dailey News) - A Kawasaki Jet Ski explosion on Hamlin Lake sent two teenagers from the Grand Rapids area 5-6 feet in the air and sent one of them to the hospital. Both suffered some burns and cuts but the injuries did not appear to be life threatening, according to the Hamlin Township Fire Department and the Mason County Sheriff's Office.

Fire Chief Steve Vandervest said the personal watercraft, owned by the boys' family, was drifting in the middle of Barnhart's marina and as the two boys started it up to leave the marina, they heard a loud bang and were launched into the air and thrown clear of the burning hull of the watercraft.
