M-21 Bridge over the Grand River in Ada
ADA, Mich. (WZZM) Commuters of the M-21 bridge will have an easier time traveling now that the bridge is open. Though the completion of the bridge is not expected until September, there are now 2 lanes westbound and 1 lane eastbound open to traffic. MDOT communication representatitve John Richard says one thing that should ease traffic is the second right turn lane they've added going west on Pettis.
"The new bridge has more of a straight shot and wider lanes for traffic," said Richard. There will also be a non-motorized path built alongside the bridge. He said the original bridge was built in 1957, so it was time for a new bridge.
The project began about two years ago. Richard says rain in 2011 delayed the project by about 40 days. Once work is complete, MDO
