GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM)- Starting July 1, The Rapid is hosting a three-month long online program to help local residents track their commuting habits.
The Rapid is teaming up with Ecology and Environment, Inc. to reward green commuters across the Grand Rapids area for smart traveling choices.
The program focuses on Kent, Ottawa, and Allegan counties and will include giveaways and raffles for green participants. Prizes will range in value from $10 to $500.
Local companies are now on board with the program. Amway, American Seating, Dematic, Farmers Insurance, local colleges, and many others are promoting the program and even offering incentives to employees for participation.
To register for the green challenge, go to www.wmrideshare.org and create a user profile to start tracking your daily commutes. Prize winners will be announced on the Green Ride website and also on the company's Facebook page.
