KENTWOOD, Mich. (WZZM) -- Kentwood is seeking applicants to fill the vacant First Ward seat on the city commission.
The commission will decide who will fill the post vacated by Richard Clanton, who was appointed mayor last month. The new First Ward commissioner will serve out the current term, which ends in November 2013.
Clanton is serving out the term of former Mayor Richard Root, who resigned. Root died last month from cancer.
Applications for the commission seat are due in to the city by 5 p.m. July 20. Applicants should be available during the week of July 30 for a possible interview.
