PAW PAW, Mich. (WZZM) -- A Van Buren County woman is facing felony murder and "vulnerable abuse" charges for the death of her adult son.
Michigan State Police detectives say troopers were called to a Van Buren County home on July 2, 2011, after another resident found the body of the 25-year-old man, who suffered from autism.
According to detectives, the home was not out of the ordinary, but condition's in the man's room were "not what you would expect." They would not go into further detail.
Troopers felt the death was suspicious, and an autopsy ruled the man's death as being the result of homicide.
Prosecutors authorized an arrest warrant for the man's mother on Monday, and she was arrested Thursday. She is being held in the Van Buren County Jail without bond.
Detectives say the man's mother, who is around 40 years old, was not at the home at the time her son's body was found.
They are not releasing the mother's name until she appears in court on Friday.
