COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM)- The heatwave is prompting the West Michigan Whitecaps to offer up a hot deal for baseball lovers.
If the temperature in Grand Rapids reaches 100 degrees on Friday, July 6th, the price of reserved seat tickets to the Whitecaps game will be reduced to only $1.00. This is a difference $9.50 of the normal $10.50 price.
According to a news release, Whitecaps CFO Denny Baxter claims he didn't understand the promotion when he signed off on the idea. "I just came in from the parking lot and man it was hot out there. I thought they were asking me if I had change for a dollar when I said yes."
Fans are encouraged to check the Whitecaps facebook (http://www.facebook.com/wmwcaps) and twitter (http://twitter.com/wmwhitecaps) pages to see if the temperature threshold has been met.
The Whitecaps take on Lake County Friday night at 7:00 pm. Detroit Tiger Legend Willie Horton will be signing autographs from, 6:00 pm - 7:45 pm as part of the Whitecaps Tiger Friday series. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Willie Horton Living Baseball Card courtesy of BCF Wealth Strategies. Gates open at 5:45 pm.
