COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) -- The heat wave led to a hot deal at Fifth Third Ballpark Friday night.

When the temperature in Grand Rapids reached 100 degrees, the West Michigan Whitecaps dropped their ticket prices from $10.50 to $1.

The team came up with the idea a couple days ago, when temperatures continued to climb. The Whitecaps' promotions manager says this is the first time he remembers ever doing this.

"You know we realize people need a little incentive to come out to the ballpark when it's hot like this, so we want to help people out and have some fun with it and give them a chance to enjoy a game for a really good price," says Brian Oropallo.

Perhaps one of the hottest jobs at the ballpark Friday night was entertaining the crowds, but the team says Crash and Frankie have their methods to stay cool.

"There always getting up to trouble somewhere," says Oropallo. "I'm sure they're dumping ice down each other's jerseys or dumping buckets on each other whenever they can."
