MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM)-A Missouri man will likely never know how his dog ended up in West Michigan.

Yoda ran away from home about a week ago in Missouri. Friday night, a woman driving home from work spotted the Husky running on M-120 in North Muskegon. She picked him up and brought him to Pound Buddies Rescue. When volunteers scanned the microchip underneath Yoda's skin, they found out his owner lives in Missouri.

"It's about a ten hour drive so Yoda's been hitchhiking," said volunteer Cindi Kaiser with a laugh. "We're assuming that someone picked him up... but Yoda's the only one who knows, and he can't tell us."

Yoda's shocked owner is busy planning the ten hour trip north to pick up his dog. The shelter says the reunion would have likely never happened had Yoda not been microchipped
