GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The recession forced hundreds of local businesses and non-profits to close.

But one long-standing non-profit proves it's possible to survive a few economic downturns.

Fulton Manor just hit the century mark.The retirement home started in 1912 as the first place for people to go who didn't have family to care for them.

Fulton Manor Executive Director Michelle Francisco says they've been successful because they've always strived to be ahead of what's happening in health care and regulation.
