MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) -- A Muskegon man found guilty of second-degree murder will spend the next 24 years in prison.
A jury last month convicted Steven Hendricks, 28, for the death of Eddie Wilson Jr. The May 2011 murder took place as a large group of people were exiting a party at the Sons of Norway lodge on Harvey Street.
The victim's mother says the sentence does not give her any comfort.
"He shot my son, who was also my best friend," says Tracy Hamilton. "I can never get him back. I'm not even asking for a fair exchange. This is not a fair exchange. My son ain't coming back."
Wilson was at the wheel of his SUV in the lodge's parking lot when he was shot. His wife and other family members were steps away when the shooting happened.
