MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - To help end local hunger, the Muskegon H&R Block year-round office will be collecting nonperishable items for local food pantry, Loaves and Fishes through August 14, 2012. For every canned good clients bring into a participating location, H&R Block will match the donation, doubling the contribution the food bank receives.
H&R Block will kick off the food drive on this Saturday, July 14, 2012 with a day full of free fun and an actives for local families. There will be games, prizes, healthy snacks, cold treats, a moonwalk and much more.
"The West-Michigan area has been hit hard in recent years," said Nicholas Hampton, Tax Pro of H&R Block Muskegon. "Through Block Out Hunger we hope to help nourish people physically and emotionally by not only providing needed food but also showing that their friends and neighbors care and want to help."
Nonperishable donations can be made at 1465 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49444, until August 14. Needed items include canned fruits and vegetables, boxed meals, tuna, peanut butter, canned soup and cereal.
