Solid Rock Teen Ministries hosted a neighborhood party at Richmond Park.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- More than 40 teenagers in West Michigan are spending part of their summer helping others in part by hosting a party.
Solid Rock Teen Ministries is holding its Holy Sweat Service Learning Camp. All this week, teenagers will go out into the community to do service projects, learn to serve others and more.
Tuesday night's event was a neighborhood party at Richmond Park, which included free food, drinks and games. It's one of the groups largest evening projects. The next one will benefit the homeless.
"On Thursday, we'll be going down to Heartside Park handing out pizzas and snowcones to the homeless and street people," says Tom Chester of St. Mark Lutheran Church. "Then we'll go to Mel Trotter Ministries to participate in their worship service."
The service camp is an annual event for St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Kentwood.
In all, the teens involved in the service camp will perform more than 60 community service projects.
