GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) Grand Rapids Police are investigating a body found this morning in the Grand River.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says the victim is a white male who is 35-years old.

A bridge worker spotted the body near Riverside Park, close to EB I-96, and called 911 just before 10:00a.m.

Grand Rapids Police Captain Eric Payne says, "We have a tentative ID, however, we're not releasing that until we can confirm it and contact next of kin."

The medical examiner was called to the scene to remove the body and help determine the initial cause of death.  "There were some injuries. That's why the autopsy has been ordered and they will hopefully give us a better determination of exactly what occured," says Payne.
