BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WZZM) -- One is an experience politician and jurist, the other has covered community issues and worked with a governor -- they are the two Democratic candidates seeking the Third Congressional district seat.
Steve Pestka and Trevor Thomas are the men running in the August 7 primary to be the Democrats candidate for that seat. The winner will run against Republican incumbent Justin Amash in November.
Pestka is a lawyer who also served as a Kent County commissioner, state representative, and as a circuit court judge.
Thomas is a former Grand Rapids-area TV news producer who served on the staff of then-Governor Jennifer Granholm.
The men will meet for a debate on the issues at 6 p.m. Monday at Western Michigan University's Kendall Center on Jackson Streeet in Battle Creek.
