Silent Observer of Grand Rapids holds singing competition
Grand Rapids, Mich. (WZZM)--The top ten finalists are performing live during Rock the Mic competition.
This is the first year Silent Observer of Grand Rapids is holding the competition. It's geared towards giving youth an outlet to stay postitive in the community.
Each contestant had to write and sing a song using anti-violence lyrics. Organizers say they received about 30 entries and narrowed those down to the top ten.
The finalists will perform live at Celebration Cinema North on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are five dollars to get in.
A panel of three judges will pick the top three winners and first place gets $750 plus a professionally edited and produced recording of their song.
Silent Observer says the competition was such a success this year that they plan on doing it annually.
