GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - An area company is cooking up a full spread of pasta, sauces, and salts.
From the colorful pasta, to the tasty sauces, at the Local Epicurean everything is made in Michgan.
With local ingredients, co-owner Ryan Raredon makes just about every type of pasta imaginable. Basil garlic is the store's the top seller.
"We source most of our stuff locally that we can. Our flour comes from Michigan. So do our eggs, so do our herbs."
"It's all done by hand - hung, cut, packaged. We've done edible flower pastas, lilly flower and saffron pasta, we also do squash pasta, which is made from squash blossoms. We do the gluten-free, the vegan... we take requests. We've had a lot of our pastas are made from customers or people we know"
They make just about any herb pasta, kalamata olive, cumin, spicy, or specialty pastas.
Raredon's pasta shop business started cooking at the farmer's market after renting a kitchen. That's when he and his partner opened their storefront on Wealthy Street. The hope now is to expand beyond this store front and into stores all over West Michigan.
