GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Thanks to overwhelming support, Family Promise of Grand Rapids won a new vehicle.

Toyota 100 Cars for Good voting took place for one day on Saturday July 28th through Facebook.  At 11:59pm Family Promise of Grand Rapids barely edged out Hawks Aloft Inc., based in Albuquerque, NM.

Family Promise won with 35% of the votes.   The not-for-profit group will use the new pickup truck to help move families in transition from being homeless to more sustainable living situations.

"We are so appreciative of the outstanding amount of support we received from the Grand Rapids community," said Cheryl Schuch, executive director of Family Promise of Grand Rapids in a press release.

Family Promise of Grand Rapids was founded in 1997 and has a mission of engaging the community and faith-based organizations in ending homelesness one family at a time.

In November of 2011, local Grand Rapids group Kids Food Basket was awarded a Toyota Tundra after winning Facebook votes during the same campaign that year.
