CARSON CITY, Mich. (WZZM) - A Carson City man is charged with a felony after crashing his pickup truck into a ditch and then reporting it stolen.
Collin J. Barnes, 21, was arraigned on a felony charge of filing a false police report after Montcalm Co. Sheriff's deputies say he crashed his pickup truck Saturday afternoon.
Barnes reportedly reported the 2000 Ford pickup stolen sometime after 3:00pm on Saturday from South West Street in Carson City. On Monday morning, a passerby reported seeing the pickup truck in a ditch in the 9000 block of South Brown Road in Fairplains Township. Deputies say that Barnes then did admit to police that he had been responsible for the crash.
Barnes is currently free on bond.
