CASCADE TWP. Mich (WZZM) - Students from Grand Rapids are gearing up for the start of the school year thanks to Target and the Salvation Army.

The Target store on 28th Street hosted 60 students for back to school shopping sprees with an $80 gift card provided by Target.

Major Jim McDowell from the Salvation Army says, "It is wonderful. It is a great event to get the kids ready for and bring them out." He adds "they love going through the store and picking things out."

Nationwide, Target is donating $1 million allowing 12,000 children to go on the shopping spree.
