MONTCALM TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - The Montcalm County Sheriff's Department is investigating a crash from Saturday morning where a driver may still be missing.
The crash happened at about 5:45am Sunday.
Deputies say that a 24-year-old Greenville man in a 1991 Pontiac Dynasty was heading south on M-91 when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 40-year-old woman from Fenwick. The woman was able to avoid a head-on collision, but was trapped in her car and had to be extricated. She was taken to United Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The man in the Pontiac told deputies that he had lost consciousness before the crash and that he was actually the passenger in the vehicle and not the driver. He claims the driver fled the scene on foot after the crash. Anyone with information about the crash should contact the Sheriff's Office at 989-831-7590 or the Tip Line at 989-831-7593.
