Four injured in 16 Mile Rd. crash

ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - Four teenagers were injured following a serious, single-vehicle accident Monday evening in northern Kent County.

The accident happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of 16 Mile Rd. NW. Sheriff's deputies say a Jeep Liberty was traveling at a high rate of speed on the gravel road when the driver, 16-year-old Ashley Benzer lost control and rolled the vehicle several times.

Two passengers in the back seat were ejected and when authorities arrived on the scene all four victims were found laying in the road.

Among the injured are: Benzer (non life-threatening injuries); Kendal Oberdorfer (non life-threatening injuries); Jenna Rickner, 17 (head laceration & multiple abrasions); Marcus Walls, 17 (head injury & multiple abrasions).

AeroMed was initially dispatched to the scene but called off. The victims were transported by ambulance to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.
