ADA, Mich. (WZZM) - Steve Pestka is claiming victory in the democratic primary for Michigan's 3rd Congressional district. Pestka will face off with republican Justin Amash in the November general election.

Pestka is a former Kent County Commissioner and his opponent, Trevor Thomas is a former local television news producer.

Thomas' campaign conceded around 11:35 p.m. Tuesday.

With 99% of precincts reporting, Pestka has a 12% lead over Thomas:

Steve Pestka (D) 13,322 59%

Trevor Thomas (D) 9,247 41%

Here is the statement Thomas released late Tuesday night:

"I spoke with Judge Pestka tonight and congratulated him on his victory in this hard-fought campaign," said Thomas. "I told him that I look forward to working together to defeat Justin Amash in the fall. Democrats and folks from across the political spectrum are united in feeling that Representative Amash is out of touch with West Michigan values, and we need to make sure that we unseat him in November."
