GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A group of local landlords and youth are working together to beautify Grand Rapids, while providing temporary jobs for teens.
The neighborhood yard work program kicked off on Marion Avenue NW Thursday morning. Properties to be cleaned are selected by local neighborhood associations identifying properties that have grass, weeds and trash problems.
Ten teenagers and one teen assistant supervisor are currently employed mowing 40 lawns per week. The program focuses on owner occupier and rental properties in the city with the greatest need.
