ROOSEVELT PARK, Mich. (WZZM) - A Muskegon County company is making a name for itself with bowling balls. But it's not Brunswick, which moved ball production to Mexico years ago, leaving 130 people jobless.

Motiv Bowling turns out high performance bowling balls at its Roosevelt Park factory. It's been a bowling ball component supplier for 50 years, but it's only in the last three yeras that Motiv made balls entirely on it's own.

Scott Wilbur, who runs the company with his brother, told WZZM 13: "It can be done here better than anywhere in the world."

Motiv was a major supplier to Brunswick, which used to make bowling balls nearby in Muskegon. Wilbur said Brunswick wanted Motiv to join it in Mexico, but the company decided to stay put.

"We chose to not go, we're Americans and we're patriots... we just want to show that America is where jobs need to be," Wilbur told WZZM 13's Peter Ross.

Motiv employs about 25 people now, and plans to hire more to keep up with what Wilbur says has been 30% annual growth in recent years.
