WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) - The City of Wyoming is looking into building a downtown area from scratch. The project is called 28 West.
The city would create Crescent Street between Clyde Park Ave. and Burlingame Ave. SW, along the 28th Street corridor. Rezoning could happen as soon as this fall. It would involved a mixed-use town center area with a new Main Street.
In total, 28 West would allow for 660,000 square feet of business space and about 600 new apartments.
The project evolved from the former Turn on 28th Street' initiative. Some existing businesses would have to be moved and the project itself would take about 15 years to complete.
