Jeannette Davis.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The woman convicted of second degree murder for a deadly road rage shooting in Grand Rapids will spend 20 to 35 years in prison.

Jeanette Davis was found guilty in July. She was sentenced Tuesday after being convicted in the shooting death of Lance Byers.

Davis and Byers got into a minor traffic accident in February, they exchanged words, and then Davis shot Byers.

Jeanette Davis's brother, Jountay, was acquitted of being an accessory to the murder.

Tuesday, Jountay Davis told Judge Paul Sullivan, "I'm sorry for all the agony and pain I caused for the Byers family and my mom - I ask God for forgiveness."

Byers family weeped inside the courtroom as the sentence was read, but refused comment outside.

Kelli Koppen, Byers' former girlfriend and the mother of his young daughter, told reporters Davis' apology "was sincere but that doesn't mean that I think she is responsible enough to be free."
