MIDDLEVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) - If your shower was hot today, chances are you can thank your water heater.   And, there's a good chance that water heater was made in Middleville, Michigan.

The Bradford White Corporation has been making water heaters in the Barry County community since 1881.   It's the county's biggest employer - 900 people work three shifts turning out 7,000 water heaters a day.

Of the nation's three largest water heater makers, Bradford White is the only one that makes all of its products in the USA.  The company considered moving out of Michigan years ago due to an unfriendly business climate, says General Manager Eric Lannes.    But now, the company is expanding and reinvesting in its Middleville site, aided by state and local incentives.

"What we're trying to do is bring more and more business that we might have outsourced, bring that into Michigan" Lannes told WZZM 13's Peter Ross.

The company has hired about 75 people over the past year and plans more hiring in the year ahead, Lannes says.
