Calder Plaza, Grand Rapids. (August 15, 2012)
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The city celebrated its inaugural Relaxation Day Wednesday with a yoga session at Calder Plaza.
Sean Moeller, the creator of National Relaxation Day says working up a sweat is one of the best ways to renew and refresh yourself.
"The intent of the day is to hopefully increase your well-being by finding a few minutes of time to turn off the cell phone, disengage from email, work related tasks, preferably after work, and just spend some time with your family or spend some time doing something good for your health."
Studies have shown the practice of relaxation can reduce stress, slow your heart rate, lower blood pressure and improve concentration.
