GAINES TWP., Mich. (WZZM) - One man is dead after a head-on collision in southern Kent County. Friday the Kent County Sheriff's Department released the names of the two people involved.
The crash happened just before noon on 100th Street near Eastern Avenue. According to police, 61-year-old Todd Harrell from Plainwell was driving westbound on 100th Street when his Hyundai Santa Fe crossed the center line hitting 49-year-old Daniel VanDommelen of Dorr head-on.
VanDommelen who was driving a Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene. Harrell was taken to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo by ambulance. Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
