BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (Battle Creek Enquirer) - The death of a man found in the Battle Creek River Thursday is being treated as suspicious.
Battle Creek Police Det. Lt. Austin Simons said the man's body was discovered shortly after 3:30 p.m. by a man camping along the south side of the river between Division Street and Elm Street.
Simons said the man who found the body walked to the police department at 3:27 p.m. and reported seeing what he thought was a body.
Battle Creek firefighters, Lifecare paramedics and police went to the scene and two firefighters went into the river and pulled the body from the water.
Simons said they found identification on the body but his name was not immediately released.
Simons said police are questioning the man who found the body and searching for evidence at the scene and along the river.
