UPDATE at 6:00 P.M. SATURDAY (WZZM) - Investigators are now blaming weather for a boating accident that killed two men.

Thursday, 58-year-old Ray Finholm of Ludington and 67-year-old Bill Sorokin were reported missing when they did not return from a fishing trip. Crews found Sorokin's body in Lake Michigan Thursday night and Finholm on the beach Friday morning.

Our partner, the Ludington Daily News, reports no memorial services are planned for Finholm at this time, but he was expected to be honored during a fish fry Saturday for the Hospice of Michigan, which he volunteered for every year.

"He helped everybody. He had to be here and had to be there, and it was all for free.  He did it because that is the kind of person he was," said Michelle Hutchison of Ludington.

Investigators say wind and waves were severe when the men left Ludington Thursday morning. The Coast Guard does not plan to recover their boat.
