ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WZZM) - A West Michigan girl who underwent surgery for injuries from a raccoon attack will be released from the hospital Wednesday.
Charlotte Ponce, now 10, was mauled by the family's pet raccoon when she was three months old. She was living in Ravenna at the time. Ponce underwent surgery last week at Beaumont Hospital near Detroit.
Doctor's used skin from Charlotte's wrist to try and start reconstructing her nose. It was the first of three major procedures.
Hospital officials say the girl will be released late Wednesday morning.
