UPDATE AT 10:10 P.M. (WZZM) -- The mother of an autistic Wyoming teenager who was the subject of an Amber Alert says the boy was trying to return home Friday night, but became lost after sunset.
Police found Joseph Lasher, 15, in the 5500 block of Clay Ave. SW, just a few blocks from his home in the 5700 block of Haughey Ave. SW.
Joseph wandered away from home around 1:45 p.m. Friday. He is a highly-functional autistic teenager.
His mother, Colleen, says the boy ended up going to Target and Meijer stores around 54th Street.
Police received a tip that Joseph had been seen at the Meijer store around 8:15 p.m.
Colleen Lasher says her son was tired, sweaty and hungry when officers brought him home, but he was going to have a late dinner. She thanked police and people who saw media reports on her son for helping in his recovery.
UPDATE AT 9:50 P.M. (WZZM) -- Wyoming Police say a 15-year-old autistic boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found.
Dispatchers say Joseph Lasher was found unharmed Friday night, hours after he walked away from his home near Haughey Ave. and 54th St. SW.
Police are not yet releasing more details on when or where Lasher was recovered.
WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police are issuing an Amber Alert for a missing 15-year-old boy with autism.
Joseph Allen Lasher, 15, was last seen around 1:45 p.m. Friday at his home in the 5700 block of Haughey Ave SW near 54th Street.
Investigators believe he wandered off, and may be headed toward 28th Street for the Metro Cruise because he has a fascination with cars.
Joseph is 5'8" and 180 lbs. He was wearing a white Aeropostale t-shirt with lime-green lettering, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. Joseph is a highly-functioning autistic teen, but he gets confused with directions and may not answer to his name.
Officers believe Joseph is in extreme danger. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Wyoming Police at (616) 530-7300, or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.
