GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A Holland man has died after his vehicle crossed over the I-196 median and into on-coming traffic. The accident happened around 4 p.m. Monday near Market Avenue.

Michigan State Police say Kendal Denbleyker, 21, of Holland was driving a red Pontiac Grand Prix westbound when he lost control of his vehicle. The car rolled into the median and into the path of a Ford van that was headed eastbound.

Denbleyker was killed at the scene. The driver of the van, Donald Falbe, 64, of Jenison was transported to St. Mary's Hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities closed the freeway for three hours to investigate the crash. The cause is not yet clear, but police say alcohol and speed were not factors.
