Sofi Lapres. September 4, 2012
(WZZM) - Many moms and dads are probably wondering where the time has gone as they look at the first day of school pictures, and that includes some of at WZZM 13. Health reporter Valerie Lego has an update on a little girl we've been following for years.
Sofi LaPres started kindergarten this year, but she would never have made it to her first day of school if it weren't for the generous gift of life a family gave her.
Sofi was born with a congenital heart defect and was in need of a heart transplant or she would die. In 2009 she received her new heart and was able to grow into the strong and healthy little girl she is today.
And she will have many more first days of school thanks to her new heart and the priceless gift of life. So maybe it's a reminder on this first day of school to become an organ donor.
