GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-A Grand Rapids church took its Gospel to the gas pumps Saturday morning.

This was the second year the Greater Works Church used its funds to roll back prices at a gas station. Regular gas dropped to $2.99 a gallon for an hour at the BP on 28th Street and Breton, starting at 10 a.m. Drivers began showing up two hours before the deal, leading to a large line of vehicles and police.

"It's crazy. [Officers] are giving out $100 tickets for blocking roads and then waiting in line, how much gas are [drivers] wasting?" Asked Brenda Smith, who works at the neighboring Uptown Cleaners.

"At the end of the day, we think it's going to be a blessing to people and people are still going to benefit and that's what we hope is the end result of all of this, " said Lead Pastor G. Andrew Beresford.

BP provided free car washes to customers waiting to pump.
