The Y is embarking on a new and perhaps first in West Michigan comprehensive organic food menu for children. It is called the "Nutritious Childcare Menu" and will prepare meals from scratch using locally grown organic foods from the Y's own Farmers Market when available, serving over 800 meals per day over the past year.

Turkey Burger-DAIRY FREE
1 lb ground turkey
1 cup freshly chopped onion
1 med. Apple grated
Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients thoroughly, form into patties. Chill in refrigerator for 30 mins. Bake for 8 mins. on each side or until thoroughly cooked through.
Granola - NUT FREE
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup water
¼ c vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon
16 c rolled, old fashioned oats
Combine all ingredients and bake at 250 degrees fro 1-1.5 hours.
Layer vanilla yogurt, granola and fresh berries for a parfait.
Bowtie Vegetable Bake - Gluten Free
8 oz tomato sauce
2 tsp olive oil
2 c Gluten free pasta dry
2 ea zucchini and squash with skin chopped
1 TBS basil dried and ground
2 c reduced fat mozzarella cheese
Dash salt and pepper
Preheat oven to 350
Cook pasta until tender - according to directions on package, drain
Mix zucchini , squash and olive oil in bowl
Add tomato sauce, basil, salt and pepper, pasta, and cheese: Stir together
Transfer to a baking dish
Cover and bake for 20 mins.
