UPDATE - 5 p.m. Authorities have reopened the east and westbound lanes of Belding Rd./M-44.

CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - Police have closed Belding Road because of a serious crash.  The two-vehicle accident happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday near Egypt Valley Dr.

WZZM 13's Blake Naftel is on the scene. He says the crash appears to involve an older model Ford Explorer and another vehicle, with wreckage scattered across the road.

AeroMed was dispatched to the scene for one person who is reportedly pinned inside a vehicle. The helicopter landed at Rockford Christian School, forcing administrators to delay the dismissal of students. School leaders say bussing will not be available and parents are asked to call the school.

Belding Rd. remains closed from Egypt Valley to Blakely Dr. while Michigan State Police and Kent County Sheriff's Deputies investigate the accident. The road is expected to be closed until at least 5 p.m.
