GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - With tens of thousands of people going to downtown Grand Rapids for ArtPrize, parking can get a little tricky.
So, ArtPrize organizers suggest some options.
There are a number of parking lots and parking ramps in or near downtown that will be open for ArtPrize visitors. On the northern end of downtown, parking lots are available on Scribner, Summer, and Seward, among others. Those lots are just a short walk from several venues. On the southern side of downtown, you can park in a number of lots near Van Andel Arena. There are also several parking ramps in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. You can learn more about the parking locations and costs by going to the ArtPrize website.
Another option is taking the Rapid shuttle buses. You can park for free at several Meijer stores in suburban Grand Rapids. Then, buy a wristband and take the Rapid into downtown. Those wristbands are two for five dollars and allow you to ride the Artbus shuttle and the Rapid througout the 19 day ArtPrize event. Check the ArtPrize website for locations and details on the shuttle options as well.
