GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-- 6'9'' basketball stand-out Allyssa DeHaan received numerous honors and set records at MSU and went on to play college volleyball at Grand Valley. She's an athlete who honed her skills on her parents' backyard basketball court; a court with a unique storage area. Allyssa showed us the shrub that held most of the family's basketballs and other athletic equipment that's behind their basketball hoop.
Allyssa helped me put a different type of storage unit to the test. The Ball Claw is a very simple product. It has three plastic prongs and a base that attaches to a wall or post. The prongs grip all different sized athletic balls, from basketballs and volleyballs, to footballs.
On the Ball Claw website, it shows various ways to organize or display your athletic balls - from narrow spaces in between garage doors, or to put balls on display in a sports themed basement or den.
Allyssa's husband helped us get out a drill and with three quick screws, we attached the Ball Claw to the side of a deck. Allyssa was so impressed at how easy it went up, but also how it held the ball. She said she'd buy it, because of its easy access to your basketball and because it's a good price.
The Ball Claw is a simple concept, but a great idea for any athlete or sports enthusiast.
We bought our's online for $11.99, but they're also sold in sporting goods stores like Dick's.
